JOB SUMMARY:
Works collaboratively with other system engineers, developers, and leadership to provide back-end systems and application support for complex business applications. Responsibilities include project planning, systems integration, network security monitoring, and performance monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, and developing detailed documentation.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
_Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effective analyses for total systems.
_Uses the current data center standards and procedures to streamline operations in an efficient and effective manner.
_Analyzes system environment and recommends enhancements to processes, procedures, tool sets, etc. to improve performance, stability and/or maintainability.
_Analyzes performance bottlenecks on network, systems and the overall IT infrastructure.
_Makes recommendations and implements those recommendations. This would include but not limited to the following systems: Active Directory, File servers, RAS servers, MS cluster, Exchange servers, SharePoint servers, Media servers, Live Communication servers.
_Designs and configures the server equipment on a continuous basis.
_Recommends and implements standards for internal/external security, mail, internet, intranet and VOIP.
_Presents findings to Senior Management in a precise/concise manner.
_Designs, Configures and installs server equipment according to industry standards.
_Researches ongoing and forward looking technologies and implements systems based on research and company needs.
_Monitors system performance, implements corrective actions, and establishes plans for future system upgrades.
_Responsible for overseeing network security, installing and maintaining a storage management program, monitoring and maintenance of enterprise network _management and providing routine back-ups, virus protection and monitoring daily activity.
_Provides third level support for servers, network, Linux, SAN, and the data center.
_Establishes and maintains system users, user directories and security.
_Comes up with an overall security plan for the IT organization.
_Designs, implements, and maintains the Storage Area Network.
_Maintains the operational health of the SAN infrastructure and the modules such as monitoring log files.
_Defines issues in the production environment for critical system issues.
_Always greets guests with a smile and a polite greeting while maintaining an approachable demeanor with open body language.
_Interacts with guests in a welcoming, friendly, energetic and cheerful manner.
_Maintains a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a manner that facilitates good relations with customers, co-workers and managers.
_Participates in weekly staff meetings to communicate progress and problems.
_Recommends policies and procedures to ensure the proper and effective use of Viejas LAN/WAN investment.
_Assists with overall technology strategy and operational standards for UNIX technology domain.
_Develops, maintains, and manages the applications that support the internal UNIX infrastructure and services.
_Writes system automation programs using PERL and Shell scripting.
_Takes a lead role in giving seminars at industry conference.
_Protects company assets and reports any fraudulent activity to Surveillance Department and Management.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
_Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline from a four year college or university or Master’s degree plus 3 years relevant IT experience and/or training.
_PMP certification preferred.
_CCNA certification preferred.
_CCIE certification preferred.
_Juniper certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
_5 to 7 years of data center operational experience – deign, configuration, installation, and deployment of highly scalable servers.
_Experience with the implementation of TIA data center standards.
_5 to 7 years of experience in implementing projects independently.
_5 to7 years of experience in web server farm, load balancing and n-tier architecture.
_Experience in the design, configuration, deployment, and installation of Foundry Networks equipment preferred.
_Experience with AIX, RedHat, Solaris 10, and CentOS.
_5 to 7 years’ experience in designing, implementing, and supporting technologies such as DNS, HTTP, SSL, CIFS/NFS, load balancing, and LDAP.
_5 to 7 years’ experience in VMware and related technologies (ESX and Virtual Center).
_5 to 7 years’ experience working with complex network technologies, such as layer 2/3 switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, web content filters, and VLANs.
_Experience in a medium-large scale SAN environment.
_Experience with Symantec/Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) or understanding of Logical Volume Managers is helpful.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
_Must have exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills in order to communicate with a wide range of internal and external guests.
_Strong understanding of remote file system protocols (NFS/CIFS/iSCSI).
_Strong knowledge of software development cycle, understanding the release processes for Integration, QA, Stage, and Production.
_Proficient in managing UNIX systems in ESX VMware environment.
_Knowledge of state-of-the-art data and network technology.
_Ability to incorporate new concepts into the planning and implementation processes for the LAN/WAN environment.
_High-level technical knowledge of several operating system or IOS, and utilities used in the LAN/WAN environment.
_Advanced knowledge of all operating systems used in the LAN/WAN environment.
_Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems with the assistance of external support.
_Ability to analyze, recommend purchase/lease of new systems equipment and software for the LAN/WAN environment.
_Knowledge of Storage Area Networks (SAN) including Fibre Channel Directors/Switches (CISCO MDS 9000 series) is required.
_Knowledge of Symantec/Veritas Netbackup or other enterprise backup/recovery products such as Legato Networker in a SAN based backup environment.
